Are exchange rates real-time?

Yes. Mr.Splitter pulls public FX data daily and stamps every transaction with the day's rate. If you want to lock in your actual exchange cost (e.g. airport rate), you can set a custom rate in group settings.

Can one group use multiple currencies at once?

Yes. Each transaction picks its own currency, and at settlement everything converts to the group's base currency. E.g. a TWD-base group can log JPY expenses during a Japan trip and settle in TWD on return.

Should I use the system rate or a custom rate?

Depends. For airport cash or card-rate accuracy, use a custom rate (closer to real cost). For ordinary credit card transactions, use the system rate (neutral and verifiable). Mr.Splitter supports both — switch as needed.
