Making expense splitting simple and fair

Our Story

Mr.Splitter was born at the end of 2024, after a 10-day trip to Japan with four friends. With more than 70 transactions across five people — someone prepaid the hotel, someone else bought the flights, another person kept swiping their card for train tickets — we sat in front of a spreadsheet for an entire night and still couldn't balance the books. That night, we decided to build a tool that makes expense splitting genuinely simple.

There are already many international bill-splitting apps, but most of them are designed around Western habits. For users in Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, and the broader Asian region, features like real-time multi-currency conversion, one-tap LINE group sharing, and image-based expense entry that actually understands Chinese and Japanese characters have always been half-baked. Mr.Splitter exists to close that gap.

We launched in early 2025 and, within a year, rolled out LINE Bot quick entry, AI image-based expense entry, live exchange rates, a minimum-transfer settlement algorithm, budget management, and asset-trend analytics. The product now supports Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, and Thai, and serves users across Asia and the global Chinese-speaking community.

Our Mission

We believe money should never come between friends. A trip, a shared apartment, a date night, a team dinner — none of these should turn awkward because of who owes whom. Mr.Splitter's mission is to use technology to eliminate that awkwardness and put the focus back on people, not receipts.

We don't try to be a do-everything app. Instead, we obsess over making the three highest-frequency actions — logging an expense, inviting someone, and viewing settlement — as effortless as possible. We believe good tools should be invisible: mostly out of the way, but absolutely dependable when you need them.

Mr.Splitter is run by a small team of independent developers based in Taiwan. We are not part of any large conglomerate — every product decision, architectural choice, and support reply comes directly from the team. That lets us respond to user needs quickly and take every suggestion seriously.

Our team spans front-end, back-end, design, and product, with more than 20 years of combined software engineering experience at well-known tech companies across Taiwan and abroad. We believe in "small and sharp" over "big and sprawling" — doing only what truly matters to users, and doing it well.
