A Progressive Web App is a website that behaves like a native app. Open it in a browser, add to home screen for a dedicated icon and full-screen launch, and use parts of it offline. No app store review, automatic updates, no storage hogged on the device.
Does add-to-home-screen work offline?+
Yes. After signing in once and adding to home screen, you can browse past records and enter new expenses without a network connection (they sync once you reconnect). Useful on the subway, in airplane mode, or with unreliable hotel Wi-Fi abroad.
Do my friends also need to skip the install?+
They don't need to install anything either. Share the group invite link or QR code; they open it in a browser and they're in. No "please download this app for me" awkwardness — especially valuable for one-time trips and ad-hoc groups.
